DEAD AHEAD, by Donal O’Keeffe

‘Dead Ahead’ is a postcard animation to the world of the horror movie genre. Our intrepid travellers head out into the wilderness on their road trip only to find one nightmare scenario after the other. With each step forward a new monster emerges paying homage to such classics as Friday the 13th, Jaws and Pet sematary.

Adobe Make It Titles, by Mike Tosetto

Adobe approached us to create the opening titles for their annual creative conference, Make It, which took place at Carriageworks in Sydney on May 5, 2016.

The main imagery for the event was created as an isometric illustration by Shaivalini Kumar, an artist from New Dehli, India.

We rebuilt all the elements in 3D, then rendered the scene using global illumination, a process that simulates light bouncing and colour bleeding. This technique gave us a highly stylised look, allowing the bright colours in the scene to emit light, and the dark colours to receive light.

Maxon’s Cinema 4D was the perfect tool for the 3D animation, which we rendered with Vray for C4D. The project was edited in Adobe Premiere Pro, then Adobe After Effects was used for all compositing, along with the typography treatment for the animated speaker names.

The music was composed specifically for this title sequence by Ben Romalis, who we worked very closely with throughout the entire process.

Some of us at Buck grew up eating Cadbury chocolate and some of us grew up eating Oreo cookies. Appropriate then that we would collaborate across offices on this bromance between those two tasty treats as they take us on a tour of the land down under. We had Double the Yum and Double the Fun working alongside Saatchi and Saatchi Sydney on this film.

We were invited to create 3 different videos to promote the Vibe Energy Drink. The main concept was the impact of Vibe’s energy on real life objects and how it transforms them to become extreme and powerful. It was a great fun blending 3d polished animation with 2d graphic design elements.

TV3 Puls – Idents Montage, by Frame.

TV3 commissioned Frame to create a new brand identity based around a set of idents for their female biased lifestyle channel TV3 Puls. The package aligns with a update range of content on the channel. The idents sit comfortably as part of the TV3 family.

TV3 was very focused on the idea of creating an identity package that reflected the feel of the channel rather than the content of it. They had to be abstract, clearly avoiding literal clichees and had to be all graphic. Obviously it was very important for the channel to fit into the TV3 family while still holding its own.

In order to reflect the mood of the channel we were drawn towards natural materials and textures to create something that you would love to touch and feel. At the same time we did not want to be literal so we invented fictive objects and shapes that resembled abstract interior/design objects but that clearly did not have a real-world purpose. These semi-natural objects were deliberately mixed with all-synthetic CG objects which were then arranged into still-life-esque compositions.

We decided to base each ident around abstract concepts such as, a breath of fresh air, opening up, socializing, attraction, and balance. All positive concepts that could serve as the driving idea behind each ident.

We wanted to create a unique look that was cutting edge and aspirational with (wo)Man at the center of the idea.

A worldwide celebration of the iconic Air Max.

The three most influential sneaker designers in the world come together to celebrate Air Max Day ’16. We worked closely with Nike Sportswear to conceptualise and execute a huge global campaign culminating in events across the world.

We see the unique mechanics of each Nike designer’s mind through a series of kinetic sculptures of movement and energy as their vision is brought to reality. Hiroshi: The Editor of Air. Tinker: The Architect of Air. Mark: The Visionary of Air.
